Land Fraud

Everyone agrees, land fraud in all its forms is a problem that continues to grow. Consensus within the industry regarding the most effective means of combating fraud is still developing.

After the 2009 Annual Conference PRIA reorganized the Land Fraud Committee to provide a more focused approach to the topic. The Committee continues to connect the FBI Mortgage Fraud Taskforce with local PREP chapters in an effort to increase communication and information sharing between the various segments of the real estate industry and our law enforcement partners.

Helping Victims Fight Property Fraud

“Property or deed fraud” vs. “mortgage fraud” – “Mortgage fraud” refers to banks/lenders being defrauded. “Property or deed fraud” (or recording fraud) is the hijacking of property or abuse of the public recording system by using bogus liens and filings.
