Land Fraud Committee
Everyone agrees, land fraud, in all its forms is a problem that continues to grow. Consensus within the industry regarding the most effective means of combating fraud is still developing.
After the 2009 Annual Conference PRIA reorganized the Land Fraud Committee to provide a more focused approach to the topic. The Committee continues to connect the FBI Mortgage Fraud Taskforce with local PREP chapters in an effort to increase communication and information sharing between the various segments of the real estate industry and our law enforcement partners. Positive reports continue to follow each of these meetings.
As the Committee looks forward to the 2010 Winter Symposium in Washington, DC we are working to develop a new angle on the hot-topic of RESPA reform. While the entire industry is focusing on the mechanics of new regulations, we are exploring the possibilities for RESPA requirements to be leveraged in the battle against land fraud.
