Annual Conference

The PRIA 2014 Annual Conference was held August 25-28, 2014, at the Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach.

More than 145 PRIA members, industry leaders and guests took advantage of the opportunity to immerse themselves in the learning opportunities available at the Annual Conference and participate in discussions on property fraud, sovereign citizens, national foreclosure, the CFPBs eClosing Pilot Project, to name a few.

There was one breakout session for committees and work groups to review current projects and solicit feedback from participants.

A panel of eRecording vendors took a light-hearted but informative look at why many submitters choose not to eRecord.  Redaction and protection of public records was the topic for another session during which representatives from several states talked about the policies in their counties.  The final program included a panel of PRIA members who have “worked both sides of the aisle.”  There were recorders who had previously been on the business side of the industry and vice versa.  They shared their experiences as their roles changed along with their perspectives.

Dr. Earl Epstein, a noted expert in the field of GIS, spoke at the Thursday luncheon about his latest book, Modernizing American Land Records – Order Upon Chaos.

PowerPoint presentations from the Annual Conference are available to all PRIA members in-good-standing and are posted to the members-only side of the website.  Note:  not all speakers release their materials to PRIA for redistribution and not all programs utilized PowerPoint presentations.
